#1. Harvesting from natural honeybee hives:
This type of harvesting is depending on the availability of beehives. Beekeepers search here and there to find beehives naturally grown in the trees, gardens, or forest areas. Since they are naturally grown beekeepers don’t need to spend anything for maintaining beehives. They only spend for beekeeper’s suit, tools, container, and knife etc. So, they can sell their honey in cheap price. But their extracting method is very simple and not so hygienic.
Simply they make fire in a bundle of straw to make smoke that remove the bees from the hive. Then they cut the beehive and separate honeycomb portion. Usually it’s in the upper side of the beehive. Then they break it into several pieces to make it easy for pressing strongly with hands. Thus they separate the wax from honey and keep honey into a jar. They filter it with smooth sieve to remove dead bees. It’s now ready to eat or sell similar to raw honey in apiary.
#2. Harvesting honey in traditional Beekeeping:
Most people use this method of harvesting honey in apiary. They have more control than the first method. Professional beekeepers produce huge quantity of honey based on the size of apiary. Flow hive is made with food graded plastic and can be opened or closed while necessary by an attached key.
When the cells of honeycombs are full with honey and matured, beekeepers open the switch to drain out honey directly into the jar from beehives. Even they don’t need to open the hive cover. For more information, read Flow Hive Invention For HoneyBees Makes Beekeeping Easier Than Ever!!
